Chancey Maurice Jackson's Story
This is the short version of a sad story...

Chancey was a nice child. He was teased by schoolmates from any early age. As he grew up, he seemed to deal with it OK. His last year, he was working two jobs and going to summer school. On his last day, he went to summer school, got expelled for being late four times, a secret girlfriend broke up with him, and he had a car accident in his father's car. All this grew too much for an 18 year old to take.  Not knowing, that all this would pass, Chancey decided to jump off the Second Street bridge.

Other things were found to add to his stress--all his money was gone, as well as some of his personal items, he had not had a relationship with his natural mom for many many years, not fitting in with school friends, and peer pressure, just to name a few.

Thanks for all you do and again , we are so sorry for your loss.  your friends,  Wanda and William Jackson

Editor's note: We must end the silence! We must do everything we can to spread the word about teen suicide. Like Chancey, the signs were there, but we as parents, relatives, friends, or teachers fail to see the pain these children face. If you have not attended a QPR session, I encourage you to learn the risks and warning signs of suicide. If you see a person exhibiting suicidal behavior, ask "Are you thinking about suicide." Take time to listen and get the person the help he or she needs.

You never think it will happen to your child...Don't let it be too late. Request QPR training for your school, church, or community organization. It's free... it takes just takes 90 minutes of your time.
